Team Clayesmore Race for Life

Team Clayesmore at the Race for Life 5km run in aid of Cancer Research.

Assistant Head, Pupil Development, and Wolverton Housemistress, Mrs Helen Christmas, writes about this great event for a worthy cause:

“On a hot Sunday morning, a group of Wolverton girls and staff took part in the Race for Life 5km event at Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester. Decked out in pink and sporting cards to declare that we were running (or jogging slowly) for loved ones, friends and relatives, we completed the course with several hundred other women and girls.

“These events are always inspirational and moving and this was no different. Old and young, fit and not so fit, all did their bit for Cancer Research and it felt good to be doing something active. Or it did until the hills started taking their toll!

“The course was beautiful and we were all helped around the course by choirs and bands who were stationed at various points to sing and play inspirational music. We particularly appreciated the rendition of ‘Don’t stop me now’.

“The day was made particularly poignant as this was also the day two years ago when our wonderful Wolverton matron, Emma Reed, died after a long and brave battle against cancer. Her name was on the back of many of the Wolverton runners.

“Thank you to the Head, the girls and the House team for all their support.”

Than you to everyone who ran, supported and sponsored. Team Clayesmore has raised nearly £1,500 to date, and you can still help them raise more by donating here.
