Clayesmore hosts National Schools U15 T20 Cricket

Cricket Festival
Clayesmore hosted the first round of the School Sport Magazine National Schools U15 T20 Cricket (for the second year in a row) at the start of May.
We had three schools in our pool; Truro School, Parkstone Grammar and Sherborne Girls. We started with a win against Sherborne Girls (won by 11 runs!). Kitty scored 19 runs, Tilly bowled 2-7, Eleanor 2-14 and Elen 3-16. Our second match was another closely fought game with Kitty contributing to the 103 runs, scoring 23 of them. However, Truro managed to reach a total of 105 after 15 overs and won by 8 wickets.
Our final match was against the eventual winners, Parkstone, who were a very strong team; scoring 178 runs. We couldn’t match this performance, losing by 117 runs. Tilly scored 16 runs not out.
The team comprised of eight Year 9’s and four Year 10’s; it was the first hard ball match for the majority of the girls and they learnt a great deal about the game and, most importantly, really enjoyed the format of the day. The girls are really looking forward to future competitions and certainly did us proud!
Thank you to Sherborne Girls, Parkstone Grammar and Truro School for a great day of cricket! We wish Parkstone Grammar the best of luck for the next round!
