Clayesmore are Cross-Country County Champions
The cross-country running achievements keep flooding in: Clayesmore are Senior Boys County Team Champions for the third year in a row!
The Dorset Schools Cross-Country Championships were held last week, and aside from the senior team success, our intermediate (U17) boys did well too, taking second place behind Bournemouth Collegiate School.
The next stage for our speedy boys and girls is the South West Schools Cross-Country Championships in early February in Truro, Cornwall. All counties in the South West select their best ten runners in each age group to compete in this regional round. Clayesmore have six qualifiers representing Dorset, which is the second highest number in the county behind Bournemouth Collegiate School with seven qualifiers, and many times the number that qualified from our local rival independent schools. Our team to represent Dorset is made up of two U19 boys, two U17 boys, an U17 girl, as well as an U11 boy from the Prep School.
After the South West Championships, each county will pick a senior team of eight runners to compete at the national stage, the English Schools Championships to be held in Norwich in March.
Congratulations to all participants, and best of luck and pace to our county representatives in February.
