Time’s up for SUP!

Year 6 became activists recently, inspiring all members of the School community to cut back on Single-Use Plastic (SUP). Among their many campaign creations was an interview the pupils filmed with Head of Catering, Mr Church, to get his views and plans on the minimising SUP at Clayesmore kitchens.

Modelling international relations at Prep Model United Nations

There was a real sense of buzz in the air on Tuesday afternoon as Clayesmore hosted its third annual  Year 7 MUN event. We welcomed 80 children from eight different schools. The Year 7s had clearly prepared thoroughly and thoughtfully for the debates, which this year centered on the Drilling for Oil in the Arctic, Immunisation and the Rohingya Refugee Crisis.

Embracing the Spirit of Winter – Prep Boarders’ Play in a Day

Clayesmore Prep boarding pupils did not let the snow get in the way of their school day on Thursday 1 March. Not content with merely playing with the white stuff, the children created a play about it in just one day.

Year 6 on the Roof of the World

The recent Year 6 non-fiction English project couldn’t reach any greater heights, focusing as it did on the tallest mountain in the world: Everest. As the culmination of the project, they were lucky enough to have a visit from Charlie Sweeney (Year 6 parent), who was part of a group travelling to Everest Base Camp to take part in scientific research.

Now you see us… Now you don’t – The Final Chapter

Tuesday saw the much-anticipated return of Gillian Cross to work with Year 5. The children had developed their shrinking characters further and were eager for Gillian to help them bring them to life. This session focussed on writing apt dialogue to capture characters placed in an extreme situation. Then, taking on the mantle of a specific character from their script, they learned the dialogue in record time, rehearsed and performed the script creatively and with great confidence.

A fabulous day at a famous bakery

Last Saturday, a number of Clayesmore Society members took advantage of our bargain bread-making offer and spent the day at the Famous Hedgehog Bakery at Long Crichel.
