Cadet challenges at Clayesmore and away
The end of the summer term gives Clayesmore’s cadets the opportunity to take part in some great activities.
19 cadets attended a four day exercise in Training In Built Up Areas on Longmoor Training Area. They returned to school tired and dirty, but very happy. Contingent Commander Major Emma Dorey commented, “They performed amazingly well over a very warm and uncomfortable few days. All the participants passed their Weapon Handling Test on the Cadet Rifle and undertook a series of lessons to learn how to attack, clear and secure buildings in an urban environment. Those who particularly impressed us were Phillippe V as an excellent Platoon Commander, Seb W, Amelia A, Abi J and Lucy S, and Josh Whitticase for his endless enthusiasm.”
In addition to this, 11 senior cadets undertook their static line parachute training. Unfortunately the weather was too windy for them to jump but hopefully some of them will complete it over the Summer break.
CCF camp continued into the last week of term for the whole contingent and included a visit from the Army Outreach Team who ran some Command Tasks and Inter-Section Competitions on Wednesday.
A great week for Clayesmore’s Combined Cadet Force.
