A bit of Bollywood glitz

A bleak and chilly November evening came alive for lucky members of staff when our students of BTEC in Hospitality laid out a splendid South Asian dinner for them in the Main House, under the expert guidance of their teacher Mrs Gallagher.

The evening opened with some light entertainment in the form of Bhangra-style dancing first performed by the pupils, and subsequently joined in by all guests, including the Head.

When it was time for the main event, dinner guests were treated to not only a beautifully laid table with a rich royal blue and fuchsia colour theme, but to the most abundant and delicious dishes including mango chutney, mint dip and lime pickle, followed by cauliflower and potato curry, tandoori salmon, and chicken and tomato spiced curry with sides of rainbow bhajis, vegetable samosas, rice and naan bread, and washed down with mango lassi. Dessert was a mystifying but fascinating sounding ‘Elephant Surprise’. Needless to say, everything was devotedly and skilfully prepared by the students of the Hospitality course, including the pink brocade patterned menu cards.

What a fantastic and opulent evening! Our kindest thanks to Mrs Gallagher and her Hospitality pupils, and a humble request to think of us again any time they want to practice their exquisite culinary and entertainment skills.
