The Best Social Enterprise in the South West
Having triumphed at the Young Enterprise Dorset Finals last month, Clayesmore’s Lower Sixth student firm, TIME, competed at the South West Company Programme Final. Our Head of Careers, Ms Catherine Jacks, writes:
“What an honour it was for Clayesmore School to represent Dorset in the Young Enterprise South West Regional Final this week at the Met Office in Exeter. The students represented the School with pride and confidence in their delivery of an excellent, hard hitting presentation. The whole competition was of a high standard and our company team, TIME, won the Best Social Media and Best Social Enterprise Awards on the evening. I could not have been prouder.”
The Best Social Enterprise was a very fitting win for TIME, as the campaign they have devised raises awareness of meningitis among young adults encouraging them to take up the vaccination.
The following week, North Dorset MP Simon Hoare visited the successful Young Entrepreneurs at School. Managing Director of TIME, Callum, describes the meeting:
“Two of our members were lucky enough to meet our local MP Simon Hoare. We talked him through what we are doing and asked about vaccines and why they are not advertised better. He told us about the idea of costings within the medical world and he gave us some great pointers in which to gain more publicity. He also has offered to talk to Jeremy Hunt (Secretary of State for Health and Social Care) about the cause. His meeting was interesting and insightful and gave us an idea of the larger scale of health within the government.”
