Baroque, bagpipes, Billy Joel and beatboxing

The Charity Showcase Concert, held on 14 March, illustrated perfectly the breadth and diversity of musical opportunity and talent within the school. From the sublime “Divertimento in D major”, performed by the Flute Group, to the bombast of the Orchestra in full swing, playing The Dambuster’s March; and the Pipe Band, who seemed determined to take the roof off with their rendition of “The Rebel Piper”, the evening’s entertainment provided a whistlestop tour of Music Department talent. Each ensemble provided something different, from the Guitar Group, to the Concert Band, Brass Ensemble, and ‘Cubana’, the Jazz Orchestra, not forgetting the vocal athletics of the Glee Club, Iwerne Minstrels and Clayesatonics.

The concert raised a fantastic £350 for the school’s charities for this academic year; The Laksh Foundation and Out of Africa.
