Back to the Future Day 2018

Last Saturday, we held our second “Back to the Future Day” and it proved every bit as successful as the first.

Timed to coincide with the Lower Sixth’s visit to the UCAS Exhibition in Exeter this week, it gave the students plenty of food for thought as they embark upon applications for work, university and apprenticeships.

A group of benevolent OCs came to advise them, using the starting point of what they would say to their 17-year-old selves, now they’ve been out in the world for a while.

They came from a hugely diverse selection of careers: an RN Officer, a political PR guru, a bid writer among them, and all approached the event with typically Clayesmorian generosity of spirit and good humour. Invaluable tips included doing what you love, so going to work is never a chore, and learning to be comfortable with a bit of self-promotion in order to smooth the path to career happiness.

Huge thanks to all who took part and we look forward to doing it again next year.
