Art and Photography at Hauser and Wirth
Year 13 Art and Photography students recently spent a day at the Hauser and Wirth Gallery in Bruton, Somerset. An exceptional resource, right on our doorstep, Hauser and Wirth represent contemporary artists from around the world and also have galleries in London and New York. As part of their studies in these subjects, pupils are encouraged to develop their own creative path that is supported by workshops, studio practice, contextual research and gallery visits.
The current exhibition, ‘Turning Inwards’ by Louise Bourgeois, comprises a series of 38 soft-ground etchings. Students began their visit with a guided tour of the work on display, before participating in workshops in drawing and contextual discussion. They then took the opportunity to sketch, photograph and explore Pet Olaf’s beautifully designed garden. Many thanks to Hauser and Wirth for providing such an excellent educational visit.
