Andrew’s cooking wins “Best Regional Showcase” in South West Chef of the Year competition

Year 13 pupil, Andrew, is celebrating winning the category of “Best Showcase of Regional Ingredients”in the South West Chef of the Year 2017 competition. Andrew learnt of his success at an awards dinner held at Exeter Golf and Country Club when the winners were announced following a unique dinner prepared by top chefs Michael Caines MBE, James Mason and Jamie Coleman and assisted by students of the Michael Caines Academy.
Speaking about the event, Andrew said, “My heartfelt thanks to all of the local companies and organisations that donated top-quality ingredients for the competition, and the on-going support I have received from all of them. The produce of the South West food scene is incredible, we are very lucky to live in such a special place. The South West Chef of the Year competition allowed me to discover my passion for cooking, and this continues to be something I enjoy immensely. Although I plan to go on to become a commercial pilot following languages at University, I hope to inspire others to follow their passion and make the most of all of the opportunities that come their way; whether it be cooking, National Citizen Service (NCS), music or something else.  I’ve been invited back to Restaurant Hywel Jones at Lucknam Park, Bath for some work experience again next year which will be very exciting!”
Well done, Andrew.
