A Level Results 2020

The champagne will be popping in many Clayesmore homes tonight as our students celebrate another excellent year’s results.  56% of A Level entries were graded A*-B, and 67% of BTEC entries were graded at Distinction level or above. A distinction is equivalent to an A grade A Level. With these results almost every student gained entry to their first choice of university.

17 students gained more than 144 UCAS points (equivalent to 3 A grade A Levels). BTEC students did very well again this year and there were spectacular successes in both IT and Hospitality, with 21 students completing 90 or 120 credit Diplomas and gaining starred Distinctions.

We had 45 UCAS applicants from Y13 and 93% secured places at their first choice university. Of those students, 22% will be going to Russell Group universities to study a vast array of subjects from Biology, Medicine, Journalism, History, Robotic Engineering, to Film and History.

Some notable successes include Alex C who will be going to Oxford to study German and Philosophy, Will C with A*A*A wil be going to Bath to study Chemical Engineering, and Oliver H who gained 4 A grades in German, History, Maths, Physics, and an A in his EPQ will go to study PPE at Exeter.

Other students who did particularly well were Zoe H, Ben H, Ben M, Charlotte M, Chloe M, Jessica R, Ed H, Charlotte W, Ben H, Lucy W, Georgia H, Raffy M, Hector S, and Holly B – all of whom gained top grades in a number of their subjects.

But…. on this day we never lose sight too of those who did not gain the highest grades but nevertheless are destined for interesting courses and employment and who will be leaders and contributors in their chosen field. Our school has always celebrated success in its widest terms and that is no different today than any other day. Well done to all our leavers. We are missing you already – so stay in touch with the OC Society and come back when you can!
