In discovering Clayesmore you have uncovered that rare gem: a school which, through its commitment to an inclusive and holistic approach to education, manages to build a rigorous academic programme upon those essential human foundations of integrity, kindness, hope and service.
The School was founded in 1896 by Lex Devine; an educator and visionary, who believed in the transformative power of education for all. Today, Clayesmore remains a fully inclusive day and boarding school with a very strong family ethos.
Our vision for education goes beyond a “one size fits all” approach, seeking instead to bring out the very best in every individual through intellectual and physical challenge as well as the development of those essential attitudes and values which will carry them securely onwards long after the safety net of school has been removed.
A man ahead of his time, Devine understood fully that a “good education” was about far more than the process of filling empty vessels with knowledge and that ethos remains true today.
