A fateful voyage

Our Year 7 pupils visited The Boathouse, Hamworthy, for a morning’s drama workshop based on the fateful maiden voyage of RMS Titanic.

This unique property features the second class panelled drawing room, captain and officers’ cabins from the Mauretania, a luxury liner of the Cunard Line. The setting thus offers the opportunity to experience first-hand how it might have felt to be on a luxury liner in the early twentieth century.

The quality of devised work from the children was highly imaginative, from still images, to soundscapes, to physical theatre exercises, culminating in an evocative and poignant nightmare sequence from the point of view of a Titanic survivor. Well done, Year 7.
