Olympian Spirit Comes to Clayesmore
Clayesmore welcomed the Olympic Torch as part of the Day 55 Relay today. Pupils, parents, Old Clayesmorians and their parents, along with staff and villagers of Iwerne Minster and pupils and staff from six local schools and nurseries were entertained by members of the Prep School Orchestra and Jazz Band as anticipation grew and the first members of the convoy rolled into the grounds a little after 10am this morning. Mandy Forbes from Christchurch was the first of three torch bearers for Iwerne Minster, carrying the flame from the front of the main house, round the drive to the northern entrance, where she handed the flame on. Headmaster, Martin Cooke said, "This was a very special day for Clayesmore and we were honoured to be able to play our small part in this great community and world event."
