Busiest ever Open Day
With well over 120 visitors, Open Day at Clayesmore on Saturday was one of the busiest since open days began! Prospective parents came to see the school from as far away as Suffolk and were very enthusiastic about all they saw and felt whilst they were with us. For the summer Open Day, it has always been the custom to use Year 9 guides chiefly, so that A-level and GCSE teaching is not disrupted, and our visitors were effusive with their praise of them. Of one of the few sixth formers pressed into service, one visitor retured from her tour and said, “that boy was fantastic!” Headmaster, Martin Cooke, said, “I could scarcely draw breath – every time I finished welcoming one group of visitors, I turned around to find yet more coming through the door – they just kept coming – we’ve never had an Open Day like it!”
Demand for places at Clayesmore has rocketed in the last five years and the senior school has grown from 300 – 420 in response to this. Increasingly impressive examination results, a very strong inspection report from last October, lively and enthusiastic teachers and pupils, and the provision of first class facilities make Clayesmore a very attractive option these days. “It is a beautiful place to be at school and we looked our best on Saturday as the sun broke through, and there is no doubt that everyone was able to feel Clayesmore’s secret factor “X” – the great warmth, homeliness and friendliness of the school,” said the HM.
