Ugly Bug Invasion for Science Week
Ugly bugs and snakes have invaded the classrooms at Clayesmore Pre-Prep this week courtesy of Jonathon Cleverly and his Jungle Roadshow. The scary critters paid a visit to the school as part of the children’s Science Week activities which will culminate in a colourful ,Ugly Bug Ball, – a ‘fancy bug’ dressing up procession of dance and music for parents.
A tarantula, royal python and rainbow stag beetle were part of the collection and the children were able to get a really good close up as Jonathon inserted a tiny camera into their habitats and relayed the images on to the white board screen. An African giant black millipede, spiny stick insects and a scorpion also made an appearance and then the children were allowed to carefully handle the huge python.
Other activities this week have included a workshop with Anna Lewington Rushworks. Using locally harvested rushes from the River Stour, a giant caterpillar for the play area was made and the children also each made a dragon fly and a bracelet.
