Parents' Association

To all our New Parents from the Chair of the Parents’ Association

Dear Parents,

As Chair of our Parents’ Association, may I add my own welcome to our community of parents at Clayesmore Prep. We are all members, and we are a very active association: in the last year we enjoyed a Call My Bluff Cheese and Wine evening, a Christmas Fair, an Easter Egg hunt for the younger children, a musical Picnic in the Park, and a hot and sunny Summer Fair. We also organised a Summer Drinks Party for all pre prep and prep school parents and, as ever, ran the barbeque following the Prep School Sports Day. All of these events are run by and for the parents of Clayesmore Prep School children in conjunction with Prep School Staff.

All the events that we run are principally designed to provide opportunities for the parents to meet up: to get to know each other, to make new friends, to share in the outstanding resources that the school has to offer, and to raise modest funds along the way. We use these funds to assist the school: for instance in the last few years we have supported the School Council’s requests and last year we funded the upgrade of the cricket nets. We have also partly funded staging equipment which is used extensively by both the Prep and Senior Schools and recently funded the partition in the new studio. All donations are carefully considered to ensure that they enhance the quality of life of the children. You will find a small termly subscription to the PA on your school bill. We use these funds to assist in launching our events, and it is a vital requirement for the Association’s many activities.

The PA is run by a committee of trustees and members – you will find them listed in the Parents’ Directory. Please do have your name and contact details included in the Directory, as it is an invaluable way of keeping in touch with each other. You may also wish to register with the school’s website at www.clayesmore.com. The Parents’ area is an invaluable resource, especially to parents of boarders.

Please know that you are very welcome to help in any way that you can – and, of course, to enjoy the events as they happen. You will also see many members of the Association, as well as the Head of Prep, at the twice termly “Coffee and Catch Up” events. These are another opportunity for parents to meet up on a Saturday morning over a cup of coffee and a pastry. Everyone is welcome to these events – if you haven’t been before, come along and say hello.

So, welcome to our community of parents. If you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours sincerely Debby Mackenzie Chair debby.mackenzie@sevensioux.co.uk
