Prep School Jubilee and Olympic Celebrations
Thursday 31st June was a day to remember! With staff and pupils alike dressed in 1950s style clothing or red, white and blue, it was back to the days of 1952. The day began with a traditional assembly held in chapel, followed by a whole PT school session, ably led by Mr. Reeves. After this it was lessons – 1952 style! Lessons included engine care and maintenance for the boys and baby care and ironing for the girls. Lunchtime saw the refectory decked out in red, white and blue and lunch was good old bangers and mash! After lunch, it was out to the playing field for ‘Jub-olympics’. Pupils, competing for their houses, took part in traditional events such as egg-and-spoon and sack races. There were even dressing up and hanging-out-the-washing events! And the fun didn't stop there! After playtime, in which pupils enjoyed skipping, jacks and marbles, it was street party time! Pupils sat in tutors groups and enjoyed a tea party which culminated with the singing of the national anthem. The day ended in tutor groups where pupils were read a story from the era whilst designing bunting which will be displayed on speech and sports day.
