Iaps 2012 swim finals, u11 team

Twenty Clayesmore Prep pupils travelled to Crawley on Saturday 19th May for the final round of the Boys & Girls IAPS Swimming Competition. Over 3000 prep pupils across the Country from year 5 - 8 took part in the regional rounds back in the winter term. In relays the top twelve qualified for the finals and in individual events the top sixteen qualified. Therefore it was a fantastic achievement for our pupils to be at the National finals.

Well done to the following pupils:

U11 8 x 25m Boys Relay Team: Jake Mowbray, Henry Weaver, Edward Hart, Felix Flute, Alex Wood, Charles Perkins, Rupert Angell, Will Betts

The boys took 20 seconds off their entry time at the finals and came second.

U12: Year 7 Boys: Guy Purbrick, Bill Moulton, Christian Pickup & James Galley swum in the 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay. The team had a great swim with Christian Pickup swimming the fastest leg. The boys took 3 seconds off their qualifying time.

Scott Ryrie joined Guy, Christian and James for the 4 x 25m Medley Relay and again the boys swam faster than their qualifying time, this time it was by 4 seconds.

Guy Purbrick: 50 metres backstroke

Guy was the only year 7 boy to qualify in an individual event. Guy just missed a personal best time and came 11th overall.

The Girls' Year 7 Medley Relay Team; Rebecca Holden, Alex McKeown, Ellie Beckett & Asia Jones. The girls came 5th overall and gained a new school record!!!

Abi Hales joined Rebecca, Asia and Ellie for the 4 x 25 metre freestyle relay. The team came 10th overall and also took 3 seconds off their qualifying time.

The following year 7 girls also swam in individual events:

Ellie Beckett: 25 metres butterfly Rebecca Holden: 50m backstroke Alex McKeown: 50m breaststroke Asia Joins: 50m Frontcrawl

All the girls recorded personal best times and Rebecca was a reserve for the final.

U13

Xavier Jones: 50 metres breaststroke

Xavier swam a two second personal best time in his heat at the finals and earned himself a place in the finals. A brilliant result for Xavier.

Nicole Hall: 50 metres backstroke

Nicole was thrilled to qualify for the Nationals and was really pleased with her race and the experience of competing at a National competition.

Very well done to all those who took part.
