Clayesmore Prep ‘Tops Out’ 1.5 million pound development!

Clayesmore Prep’s brand new 1.5 million pound academic building has moved on a pace with this week’s Topping Out ceremony performed by teacher David Pritchard, Site Manager, Graham Kick, and building contractor, Phil Hammond.

Watched by fascinated young year 3 and 4 pupils, who will benefit from the brand new classrooms and science laboratories, the trio climbed up scaffolding to place the traditional Fleur de Lys on the building to mark the completion of exterior works.

David Pritchard, the School’s Head of Design Technology, and no stranger to ‘designing and constructing’ various school projects and stage sets, joined the topping out team as a way of marking his retirement after 23 years of teaching.

Architects, Philip Proctor Associates and Hammond & Sons have been working on the new build since last year and report that completion is bang on schedule for a September 2008 launch.
